The September board meeting of NHS Hertfordshire (the PCT), considered the strategy for developing healthcare services and improving health for people in Hertfordshire. The plan was developed by all healthcare organisations in Hertfordshire – including the major hospital trusts and new groupings of GPs in the Clinical Commissioning Groups. The strategy for the next four years has now been formally agreed.

The NHS in all areas of the country is facing big challenges, with rising demand for services and not as much money as we would all wish for. This means that we must make the funding go further and do things differently. The leaflet here explains our overall strategy – which in many ways continues the work already agreed through extensive consultation in 2007- and gives some examples of the kinds of projects that are underway to make it happen. The details of what we do are bound to change over the course of the coming months and beyond, and so we will make updates available when we can. In the meantime, do have a read of the leaflet and contact us – information at the back of the document – if you want to. The full very detailed plan which was prepared for the start of the financial year 2011/12 is also available here if you would like to read it through.
