NHS Hertfordshire is expecting it to be a case of ’business as usual’  for most health services in Hertfordshire on Thursday, 21 June as the British Medical Association (BMA) calls for industrial action.

The PCT expects many of the 133 GP surgeries practices across Hertfordshire to be providing a normal service on Thursday.

All GP surgeries will be open but some routine appointments may be cancelled. We expect patients will have been told in advance if their appointment is not going ahead. If in doubt patients should check their surgery website or contact the practice reception team.

The Hospital Trusts also expect the majority of routine hospital services to go ahead on the day as planned. In the event appointments are affected patients will be contacted by the hospital.

If you feel unwell and require non-urgent treatment, you can contact NHS Direct at www.nhs.uk/nhsdirect - or if you do not have internet access, then phone 0845 4647 for information and advice.

Your local pharmacist is another good source of medical advice and can provide a range of non-prescription medicines to treat a variety of illnesses including coughs and colds and stomach upsets.
